I'm <name withheld> from Total Pop Star. Guess what! I've been posting & doing some research
about the competition and I found a lot of things. Ok FIRST OF ALL, they have disabled my
posting comments!! OMG!! They did that right after I posted this:

"If TOTAL POP STAR has current licenses with BMI, ASCAP & SESAC, then how come I went to
all the sites & found no Press or News about TOTAL POP STAR nor any of the judges!!
****SESAC.COM - performing rights organization, Without a license from a performing rights
organization, music users are in danger of copyright infringement. ****ASCAP.COM - ASCAP
is a membership association of more than 320,000 U.S. composers, songwriters, lyricists, and
music publishers of every kind of music. ASCAP protects the rights of its members by licensing
and distributing royalties for the non-dramatic public performances of their copyrighted works.
BMI.COM -BMI is a performing right organization: It collects license fees on behalf of its song-
writers, composers and music publishers and distributes them as royalties to those members
whose works have been performed....I've searched all over the sites, all 3, for any licensing
under all 3 judges names, and of course TOTALPOPSTAR.COM. TPS claims (says so at the
bottom of the screen) "This competition maintains current public performance licenses from
the following agencies: BMI, ASCAP & SESAC "..Seems as though they r using those logos to
look LEGIT, when in fact they're NOT. What other answers are left? I mean, why have I searched
endlessly, especially on the 3 sites, to be disappointed at the end to not find any licenses for this
competition!!??..I'm not stupid, look it up you guys and tell me what u find because for me, I found
absolutely NOTHING!!"
Anyway, I kept refreshing the totalpopstar.com HOMEPAGE and as I looked all the way at the
bottom, it first said "Website managment by www.appleboxdesign.com".. Then I refreshed the
page and looked if anything will change, and I was right on the money, then it said
"Los Angeles Website Design by DBurns Design " which is www.dburnsdesign.com
... All of the sudden, I refreshed it again in 5 minutes, it changed back to the Appleboxdesign.com .
They are trying to be slick on changing some things w/o us knowing. It's so obvious that they
disabled my commenting because they ARE in fact ONLINE right now!!!

Since I cant post any comments, You must tell all the other contestants about this. They gotta for
sure know that totalpopstar.com has no current licenses with BMI, ASCAP, or SESAC. It's all a
bunch of BS!! I can't be the only one who sees this!

(From what we learned, Total Pop Star site was now being managed by Appleboxdesign.com. We sent an email to DBurnsdesign.com asking whether they are co-managing the site. They replied saying that they stopped working on TPS site since June 2008, and they doesn't want the link to their site to be posted on any site that is not related to them.)

Season 2 Program Update!

Voting for season one has ended and all contestant votes have been reverted back to zero (0) so we could get a clear idea of how popular the finalists really are. Season 1 votes were also set to zero (0) because we can't have contestants entering Season 2 with piles of votes ahead of everyone else. For the new season everyone starts at zero (0). In order to restart your campaign every Season 1 constestant must re-enter Total Pop Star Season 2 by clicking here.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
For any contestants claiming they had 1000 votes but do not show up in the finals, please email Minh at minh@totalpopstar.com and advise her of your situation.

For our international TPS contestants, we apologize, but our text messaging is not set up for outside of the U.S.A. Please do not worry, TPS is well aware of this situation and the judges will still consider you for the finale. We will get the international text voting set up for Season 2.

Going into the finals and switching over to TPS Season 2 is a tremendous undertaking and we are working around the clock this weekend to ensure a smooth transition. There are a few glitches, but we are working them out. So please hang in there!

Dear Total Pop Star Users and Contestants:

We've had a real problem with our ratings system. When we first launched the site, our system allowed you to rate videos from 0-5 (5 being best). Since we also wanted to get an idea of who is the worst, we re- programmed it to allow from a -10 to a +10 (+10 being the best). It seems that when we switched over, people who had a 3 out of 5 or a 5 out of 5 originally, ended up having a 3 out of 10 or a 5 out of 10 score. The program did not automatically adjust for the new ratings. If you had 3 out of 5 it should have become 6 out of 10. If you had a 5 out of 5 it should have changed to 10 out of 10. I have been noticing some great videos and performances only have a 2 or 3 rating, so I figured something was up. We are going to reset the ratings back to 0 on March 13th. We ask that you go back into the system and re-rate all of your favorite and not-so favorite, videos. When we are judging we would like to have a realistic idea of how the general public rates each contestant. It gives us an idea of who's hot and who's not. Please take the time to re-rate the videos.

Thank you everyone for your comments. We have been working feverishly all weekend fixing the system to make sure all of the finalists have been listed on the site. Honestly, we don't know what happened because all of the finalists were there prior to us going into finals mode.
Everything should be fixed and working, and we'll extend the voting period for a few days to give everyone a chance.

Finals Are On


As for the text votes, this was designed to give your FANS the opportunity to vote for you. The text voting was never intended for people to just vote for themselves. The competition is free and we do not expect you to vote for yourself. We throw it out to the public to see what kind of response people get. It helps us figure out whether or not the contestant has any commercial appeal. If no one is willing to vote their favorite into the finals, are they really going to buy the single or album when it comes out?


Those of you who think the texting is just a chance for us to make a ton of money, are mistaken. The texting does help us pay the bills but barely. We get less than half of the text money, the other half goes to the text company.

We have invested over a million dollars into the site and the series. To date we have brought in about $3000 in text messaging so we only need another $997,000 before we break even. So once again people making claims that we are making money are definitely mistaken.


Our purpose for doing the competition is to find new talent and make music with them. We do this because we love it and know that our rewards will come down the road.

There are a few people on the site who are just there to create controversy. Perhaps they are just disgruntled because they didn't make the finals. These certain individuals are creating a number of FAKE profiles with nothing more than an email. We are in the process of tracking their IP address to see exactly who it is. If you know anyone who is doing this kindly report this to Minh immediately so we can put an end to it.

So far we have had a very fun and exciting competition and we don't want a few negative people to ruin it for everyone.


Now, it's back to work because we have so many great people it's really hard to choose.

Thanks for the concern Manny. I was puzzled to about what was going on. I was already 2nd place among the
finalists on season 1. And now I am on the second season with a lower vote. There are those who got into the
finals in season 1 with very low votes and can't even carry a tune. I think I'm gonna investigate what's goin on.
Anyways, this morning, I checked my votes, it was just 10 points, and then I checked it again, now it's 9,323
something, and I am on the second season. ON the other hand, if this is gonna be okay, I think being on the
second season will be to my advantage because I joined the competition at the last minute. The votes I got
which was 9,555 last nite were valid votes because I know a lot of friends who e-mailed me and said how
much they placed in their text votes and we were all closely watching the meter since I joined. Plus the people
who voted for me whom I don't even know. We will work on the second season and get the support of our
kababayans this time from the Philippines. Most of the people who gave those votes to me were my Hispanic,
American, Jamaican, and US based Filipino friends, plus friends from Italy, UK, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
Thank you Manny for the concern. I think I won the season 1 not by winning the competition but by meeting and
getting new nice friends like you. I'd love to meet you when I visit the Philippines next year. Maybe we can do
some recordings at your Studio. I recorded my first Gospel Album in Philippines 2 years ago and am selling my
CDs here in US and Canada. But I am not yet in the entertainment's streamlight. God bless you.

The VIDEO BIO will give you the opportunity to tell us a little bit more about yourself. Where you live, what kind of music you like, favourite artist, when you started singing, if you play any instruments, why people should vote for you and so on.
