Online Singing Competition, on Turmoil.

On May 30th 2008, TOTAL POP STAR, one of the largest online singing
competition faced what it seem as "the biggest controversy on the worldwide web ever." Thousands of contestants and supporters worldwide were confused and angered at the turnout of the Season 1 deadline where most votes including those of the finalists were either reset to zero or lessened (literally 'lessened' as some contestants weren't really back to zero but still had their thousand votes). Where did the hard earned votes go? Nobody knows.

In an email message, Total Pop Star addressed each of the contestants and supporters and admitted
that there has been a glitch in their voting system, and that they are doing their best 24/7 to correct the problem. They said that they reset the contestants votes including those of the finalists back to zero. But some finalists remain and still had their over a thousand votes, ranking them high on the Finalist page. The TPS system of online voting has long been questioned for inconsistency, as some contestant or supporters are allegedly using so-called "vote generators" to cast their votes among themselves which might be hundreds or even thousands a day! We had long been monitoring www.totalpopstar.com after receiving reports that there were indeed some discrepancies, especially in their online voting and rating system. Some TPS users/ supporters and curious visitors of the site which includes our intrepid agents, analysts and correspondents who had gone undercover has proven in the past that you can indeed cast your votes at TPS more than once a day as long as you cleared your browsers every 30 minutes or so. That require you to disconnect and reconnect to the internet and into the TPS site every 30 minutes or longer.

Many contestants who reached the required thousand votes to qualify the finals were nowhere to be
found at the TPS finalist page. It took sometime, and with the help of another smart contestant and finalist who refuses to be named, who copied and saved the list of all contestants and votes to his PC. According to some observers, Total Pop Star referred to that posting to be able to relocate and repost more than 10 pages of all their Season 1 finalist. TPS doesn't seem to have track or backup of all those contestants which were either lost or deleted in their database during their so-called "system glitch". And worst, some of the previous leading contestants (those with most number of votes) were missing, even on the relocated pages.

And then the verdict: No one from the top ranking votes made it at Top 6. So where does the text voting
for your favorite contestant valued at 99 cents per sent goes to?

Furthermore, some curious contestants and supporters found out through web search that Andrew Van
Slee, Executive Producer and Judge of the show was recently facing an Amended Desist and Refrain Order for violating the Corporations Code Section 2510 of California. The company in question was the Independent Filmmakers Alliance, or or IFAdotCOM LLC which apparently maintains the Total Pop Star site

Some contestants even searched for Total Pop Star's licenses with BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC but
nothing can be found. The online singing competition claimed they had their license and even using BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC's logo on their site pages to make themselves appear credible to the public.

Where will all these issues lead to? That's the scope of our investigation.
